Chili-Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms

Serves: 12

Ingredients:
 12 large mushrooms
1/2 pound garlic-flavored bulk sausage
1 tablespoon onion, finely minced
2 minced garlic cloves
1 tablespoon butter
1/4 cup bread crumbs
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup heavy cream, not low-fat
1/4 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon chili powder


Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Remove the stems
from the mushrooms and chop well.
2. Over medium heat, combine the sausage, onion and
garlic; cook until sausage is done, about 10 minutes.
Drain well; mix in the mushroom stems, the butter,
bread crumbs, salt and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes;
remove from the heat and stir in the cream.
3. Dip the mushroom caps in the melted butter; stuff
generously with the meat mixture (use it all). Arrange
the mushrooms in a baking dish; sprinkle with the
chili powder.
4. Bake for 25 minutes; serve immediately.
